It is with great pleasure and honor I welcome you to the official website for the 58^th Annual Academic Congress of the Sri Lanka College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists which will be held from 5^th to 7^th of September 2025 at the picturesque Cinnamon Grand Hotel Colombo.

The theme for this year’s congress: “Improving Reproductive Health of Women – Opportunities and Challenges: An Evidence-Based Approach” provides an excellent overture to the tailor made academic line up aimed at uplifting the care provided to women in the region. We are proud to collaborate with the prestigious Asia and Oceania Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (AOFOG) in organizing this years congress. In addition there will be many world renown key speakers from international professional colleges such as FIGO, SAFOG, RCOG, RANZCOG enriching the academic program. Key highlights in the academic program include the Professor D A Ranasinghe oration, Dr Rohana Haththotuwa oration, Dr P Dissanayake endowment lecture as well as the Professor Sabarathnam Arulkumaran Young Gynaecologist Award (YGA). Supplementing the academic program there will be several pre congress and post congress workshops on labour care, laparoscopy, colposcopy and urogynaecology.

I am grateful for the leadership and guidance provided by Dr Sanath Akmeemana, President of SLCOG and the dedication of all council members in organizing the congress. My heartfelt gratitude goes out to the organizing committee members and administrative staff of the SLCOG for their hard work in making this event a success.

I am delighted to invite you to the Annual Academic Congress of the Sri Lanka College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (SLCOG) 2025, taking place from 5^th to 7^th September at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo, Sri Lanka. Organized in collaboration with AOFOG and supported by SAFOG, this prestigious event serves as the highlight of our academic calendar.

The theme for this year, “Improving Reproductive Health of Women – Opportunities and Challenges: An Evidence-Based Approach,” promises an engaging and insightful scientific program a treat to the taste buds of the participants.

The congress will be inaugurated on 5^th of September, with Prof. Sir Sabaratnam Arulkumaran as the Chief Guest. We are privileged to welcome distinguished international and local faculty, including:

1. Dr. Ranee Thakar, President of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists ( RCOG)
2. Dr. Gillian Gibson, President of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists. (RANZCOG)
3. Prof Joong Shin Park, the Vice President of the Asia and Oceania Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (AOFOG), will be attending as the guest of honour.
4. Dr. Shyam Desai, President of the South Asian Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (SAFOG), will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest for the College Banquet on the 6^th September 2025.
5. Prof Frank Louwen, President-Elect of the International Federation of Gynaecology and Obstetrics (FIGO), and Dr. Ravi Chandran, Secretary General of the International Federation of Gynaecology and Obstetrics (FIGO).

The congress will feature orations, plenaries, guest lectures, symposia, panel discussions, e-posters, and free communications. We would be happy to host you and have you join us as a resource person or a delegate.

58^th Annual Academic Congress 2025

Dear participants and esteemed guests,

As the Chairman of Scientific Activities and Research of Sri Lanka Collage of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, I welcome you with great pleasure and honour for Annual Scientific Congress – 2024 which is planned to be held on 30th, 31st of August and 1st of September. Our theme for this 57th Annual Scientific Sessions is “Quality Health Care Through Standards in Training and Service Delivery – a right of all women”.

The quality health care is the key for up lifting women’s health for enhancing clinical outcome of women and off spring. It should be accessible and freely available for the well being of women and in turn will be productive to the country.

The Annual Scientific Congress is organized with prime objective of sharing and disseminating updated knowledge among main stakeholders in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. It includes pre congress workshops, plenary sessions, symposia and free paper presentations. It will be a platform to achieve our objectives of seeking for recent advances and in making professional relationships with eminent characters in the field of interest.

I hope this will be very successful and will bring the advance management strategies to women’s health care in the country.
